HOOT Spotlights... Kathy Fellows

2010 Convention Chair

Kathy Fellows

Kathy has been painting for 36 years and has been a HOOT member for the past 12 years. She has co-chaired the Memory Box program and chaired the website for the chapter. Her contribution to the HOOT convention in the past has been data entry chair (entering all of the names who either ask for a catalog or register for convention as well as entering all classes, educators and exhibitors), and treasurer (counting all of the money that is involved with convention). She is now the Convention Chair.

Kathy was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and has earned her BS/BA in Computer Sciences/Business Administration from the Ohio State University.

Before retiring 2 years ago, Kathy traveled extensively around the United States including two years of her career in Hong Kong working on mainframe conversions for IBM computers. She is no stranger to hard work and possesses many skills needed for our Convention Chair.

Kathy is a certified Donna Dewberry instructor for the "One Stroke" painting technique. Her favorite styles and mediums are strokework and rosemalling in acrylics, and painting animals in oils. She has entered many craft shows with her art work.

Due to the requirements of her profession and now the demands of the HOOT convention, she just paints for pleasure, but is hopeful that she will be able to enter craft shows again in the future. One of her favorite pastimes is working with her eight year old granddaughter one day a week in beginning painting and crafts. Way to go Kathy! Keep up the interest and enjoyment for decorative painting!

Kathy wants to let everyone know how good she feels about this convention. She is truly amazed at the support and enthusiasm she is receiving from the convention committee, the HOOT board, the members, and the public. It is really encouraging for her, as Convention Chair, to work with this optimism so early in the planning stages for the 2010 HOOT Convention.
