HOOT
Spotlights... Beverlee Riley
2011
Convention Art Director
I
have always loved to draw and sketch pictures. As a
student in Sabina High School I would draw cartoons and sell them for
two-bits to the boys.
I joined HOOT in 1983 with urging from Thelma Hulet who is still a
member and good friend.
Later, I took lessons from Linda Regula who assisted me in learning
more about painting with oils. Over the years I have taken classes from
many great teachers who have taught at our conventions.
As a member of HOOT, I chaired Festival of Trees for five years.
At our annual conventions, I have held the following positions: one
year at the HOOT Gift Shop, six-seven years at the monitors’
station, I served as assistant to Karen Schein who was Convention
Chairman for five years, and I have been Art Director five
times.
I really enjoy interacting with all the members in HOOT.
Since my retirement in 2000, I spend four months each year in Florida,
and while I am there, I teach painting!
I have a yearly Christmas Show at the Shrine Center on Stelzer Road. It
is held the week end before Thanksgiving.
My painted items are for sale year round in West Jefferson at
The
Abbey
Gift Shop at 93 West Main Street open Tuesday-Saturday.
